JURISDICTION: The Show will be held under the license and rules of the Irish Kennel Club Ltd. as in force on 1st January 2022 and a copy of the Rules will be posted in the office of the Secretary on the days of the shows. A “Dog” in the following rules shall be deemed to mean both sexes.
VENUE & Date: The Shows will be held at Cork Showgrounds, Curraheen Road, Co. Cork. T12 A2WK on Saturday 23rd 2022 and Sunday 24th July 2022
ENTRY FEES: Available under “Entry fee” tab. Entries will be online only
REGISTRATION etc. All dogs entered for competition or otherwise, must be registered or transferred at the Irish Kennel Club, Unit 36 Greenmount Office Park, Dublin Except for Greyhounds already registered with the Irish Coursing Club will be accepted without further registrations VETERINARY EXAMINATION: The Veterinary Surgeon on call will have the power to exclude any exhibit which in his opinion .is not in a fit state for exhibition on account of Disease, lice, or other cause.
EXHIBITS: Each exhibitor shall be responsible to keep their exhibits under proper control at all times
Judges: In the event of any appointed Judge failing to keep his or her engagement the Committee shall have the right to appoint another Judge or judges.
JUDGING: Judging will commence in all Rings at 9.30a.m. Sharp. No claim will be considered in the event of any exhibit being late.
Interpretation: The Committee of the Promoting Club shall be the Show Committee within the meaning of the Irish Kennel Club Ltd. rules, and all disputes (if any) shall be dealt with by the Committee. Parties to any such dispute shall have the right to appeal to the Irish Kennel Club Ltd..
ALL ANNOUNCEMENTS appearing in any Newspaper prior to the date of closing of entries and in reference to any alterations made by the committee in the schedule or in these regulations. shall be deemed sufficient notice thereof.
ACCIDENT OR DAMAGE: The Club will not be responsible for any loss or damage sustained through accident by exhibits, exhibitors or other persons attending the show.
Exercise/Puppy Pens: are prohibited within the confines of the exhibition area, at all shows licensed by the Irish Kennel Club with effect from the 1st January 2009.
Dogs not entered for competition: Dogs which are not being exhibited at all Breed Championship Shows must be entered as NOT FOR COMPETITION, for insurance purposes, prior to close of entries. Dogs to be entered on a form supplied by the show promoting society giving details of breed/s and name/s of each dog. The show promoting society shall issue a pass or passes to such dogs and keep a record of same. Production of passes may be re- quested in any area of dispute. The fee for this facility shall be Five Euro, (€5.00), per dog.
Puppies under the age of six (6) months should not be present on the show grounds unless being exhibited where a Baby Puppy class is scheduled.

CLASS DEFINITIONS FOR INTERNATIONAL SHOW
(The word 'Dog' includes both sexes)
Baby Puppy Class is confined to dogs over four and under six months of age on the day of the Show. Dogs entered in this class are not eligible to challenge for the Green Star and may not take part in any further competition other than Best Baby Puppy in Show
A Puppy Class is confined to dogs over six and under nine months of age on the day of the Show. (Puppies may not compete for the Green Star or CACIB)
A Junior Class is for dogs between nine and eighteen calendar months of age on the first day of the Show computed from and inclusive of the date of its birth. (Dogs entered in this class are not eligible to compete for the CACIB but may compete for the Green Star)
An Intermediate Class is for dogs between 15 and 24 calendar months of age on the day of the Show.
An Open Class is for dogs over 15 months of age on the day of the show.
A Champion Class is for dogs who have, gained the title of Champion under Irish Kennel Club rules or under another recognised Kennel Authority confirmed by the date of closing of entries. **
A Veteran Class is for dogs over eight years of age on the day of the Show (Dogs entered in this class are not eligible to compete for the CACIB)
** Please note - a Veteran Dog who is also a Champion may enter in either Veteran or Champion class but not both.
A Brace Class is for two exhibits of the same or different sexes of the same breed belonging to the same person, each exhibit having been entered in some class other than brace or team.
A Team Class is for three exhibits of the same or different sexes of the same breed belonging to the same person, each exhibit having been entered in some class other than brace or team
A Neuter Class is for sterilised dogs over 4 months of age on the day of the show. Neutered dogs are confined to this class and may not compete for any other award other than Best Neuter in Show
A Working Class To enter a dog in working class, the entry form must be accompanied by a copy of the FCI compulsory certificate containing the confirmation -by the member country in which the holder and/or owner has his permanent place of residence- that the dog has passed the test as well as details about this test. The only breeds eligible for the working class are those appearing as working breeds in the FCI Breed Nomenclature, taking into account the exceptions granted to some countries for some breeds
Stakes Classes are limited to Puppy, Junior, Champion, Veteran, Brace, Team and Beginners. All exhibits in Stakes Classes must be entered in their relevant breed class, with the exception of the Champion and Veteran Stakes.
Beginners Stakes: To be eligible to compete in this class, neither the owner, handler or dog will have won a Green Star prior to the entry closing date of the Show. In the event of co-owned dogs, all owners must fulfil the criteria. This class is judged on the quality of the dog.
Centenary Champion.
This title will be won by the top winning Dog & Bitch in each breed in 2022. This is based on Green Star wins (minimum required is five). In the event of a tie, Best of Breed awards will count. This title to be recorded as an affix to the dog’s name, i.e., Bobo of Fottrell House Cent.Ch. ).
Best Native Breed in Show.
Prior to the commencement of the Groups, there will be a competition for Best Native Breed in Show. This will be open to the 9 Best of Breed winners in the Native Breeds on the day. The judge selected for this will not have judged any of the breeds on the day or will not be judging any of their relevant groups or the BIS later on in the day. The judge will select 1,2,3,4. This result will have NO bearing on further competition in the Groups or BIS. The Native Breeds will gain points based on these placings, i.e., 1st = 4pts, 2nd =3pts, 3rd=2pt and 4th =1pt. A leader board will be compiled during the year and awards given to the top winning Native Breed(s) under this system. The 1,2,3,4 in BIS at the Native Breeds Championship Show will also count towards this competition. ** There is NO entry fee for this Group*
FOULING: A minimum fine of €50.00 shall be imposed on any exhibitor who fails to clean up fouling by their dogs in the precincts of the show.
ALL DOGS competing must be on a lead, unless when under a judge.
Cropped Dogs are not permitted to be exhibited at any Irish Kennel Club event.

EXTRACT FROM REGULATIONS FOR FCI DOG SHOWS
RULE 4
The dogs’ welfare and health must be of UTMOST PRIORITY at all dog shows. The exhibitors are responsible for the welfare of the dogs at a FCI International dog show. It is forbidden to expose a dog to a situation that can be dangerous for its health and welfare, such as for example leaving it in the car in excessively hot or cold weather and/or treating it in a cruel manner. Violation of this ruling will result in exclusion from the ongoing and future dog shows.
Competition for Green Star and/or CACIB
The Junior Class winners that have been graded Excellent Grades will compete for the Green Star but NOT for the CACIB.
The Intermediate Class winner if Graded Excellent will compete for the Green Star and the CACIB.
The winners of the Open Class and Champions Class, if Graded Excellent will compete for the Green Star and the CACIB.
The winner of the Veteran Class, if Graded Excellent will compete for the Green Star but NOT for the CACIB
The Puppy Class winners that are Graded Very Promising will compete for Best Puppy in Breed, will be chosen after the Best of Breed, and will go onto compete in the Main Ring for "Best Puppy In Group" Only.
The Veteran Class winners that are Graded Excellent will compete for Best Veteran in Breed, will be chosen after the Best of Breed competition. Winners will compete in the Main Ring for "Best Veteran in Show"
INTERNATIONAL BEAUTY CHAMPION
The Irish Kennel Club can only apply to the F. C. I. for this title in respect of Dogs Owned by Irish Residents. All others must apply I directly to their own National Kennel Club.
Breeds not separately listed at International Championship Shows
All Breeds qualified by the FCI to compete for the International Beauty Title must be afforded the opportunity to do so at All Breed International Shows. In order to facilitate this, the Any Variety Class is replaced by a class entitled Breeds Not Listed which must be scheduled in each of the ten groups.
Entries received in this class must be divided into breed sections. A Judge may award a CACIB, Green Star, and Best of Breed to any dog unbeaten and eligible, if in his/her opinion they are of sufficient quality.
When entries are received Judges for these classes will be allocated by the show promoting body and exhibitors informed when they are sent their ring numbers. The names of the judges will be listed in the catalogue.
Dogs that have attained the title of CHAMPION with another FCI Kennel Club, resident in another FCI country, who win a Green Star at the Irish Kennel Club International Show will be awarded an Irish Kennel Club Championship title.
Irish Kennel Club C.A.C.I.B. and Green Star Show
The F.C.I. require that Judges must compare each individual exhibit to their standard and grade them accordingly. Dogs of exceptional quality are considered for C.AC.I.B. (Int. Certificate) and Green Star (National Certificate).

The dogs that the judge handles at a CACIB-show, where he/she is not acting as a judge must be either bred, owned, or co-owned by him, a partner, a member of his immediate family or any person living with him in his household.
Dogs that have attained the title of CHAMPION with another FCI Kennel Club, resident in another FCI country, who win a Green Star at an Irish Kennel Club International Show will be awarded an Irish Kennel Club Championship title.

BEST PUPPY IN SHOW
In addition to the standard Groups, Puppy Groups will be scheduled, and the winner of each Puppy Group may proceed to challenge for Best Puppy In Show. The Best Puppy in each breed will be eligible to compete in this Group.
BEST BABY PUPPY IN SHOW
In addition to the standard Groups, there will be A Baby Puppy Group in which all Best Baby Puppy in Breed will challenge for Best Baby Puppy in Show. The Best Baby Puppy in each breed will be eligible to compete in this Group.
BEST VETERAN IN SHOW
In addition to the standard Groups, there will be A Veteran Group in which all Best Veterans in Breed will challenge for Best Veteran in Show.
The Best Veteran in each breed (unless it wins Best of its own Breed) will be eligible to compete in this Group.
If a Veteran wins Best of its own Breed it will not be eligible to compete in the Veteran Group but will proceed like All Best of Breed winners to compete in the standard group classification to challenge for Best in Show.
STAKES CLASSES
The Stakes Classes scheduled at this Show are separate from the Breed Judging and do not come under the rules of the Green Star System, e.g. An exhibit which has been beaten in a Stakes Class but wins Best of Breed may proceed to compete in its relevant Group.
All exhibits who wish to enter Stakes Classes must be entered in their relevant Breed Classes with the exception of Champions/Veterans who may enter the Stakes Class only.
A separate judge other than the Best in Show or Group judge must be used for stakes classes (Best in Show qualified) (effective from the 1st January 2011)
EXHIBITORS, PLEASE NOTE The Japanese Akita
The Japanese Akita as a breed no longer exists. There are now two breeds: American Akita and Akita Inu - both these breeds have their own standards. Once a dog has been assessed as being of either of the two breeds it can be shown in the appropriate classes.
This means that in future both breeds should be classified in the schedule and there should be an identical classification for those dogs yet to be assessed. (Class 1 Akita Inu, Class 2 American Akita and Class 3 Akita In/American Akita (not yet assessed)
At all shows where there are entries of un-assessed Akitas, they will be assessed on the day and transferred to the correct breed dogs prior to the judging of the breeds.
RULES FOR GROUP JUDGING & BEST IN SHOW
The Irish Kennel Club will not accept any responsibility nor be under any obligation to see that dogs eligible to compete are exhibited in their particular Groups, or for Best in Show, other than announcing in the ring that judging is about to take place. The Irish Kennel Club will not accept any responsibility in the case of an exhibit that is excluded from competing in a Group, owing to the judging of its breed not having been completed, or for any other reason.
If the Group Judging has not commenced before 4:30 p.m. a Best of Breed winner may leave the show but must notify the Show Secretary in writing that the exhibit will not be present for the Group judging. Otherwise, all exhibits qualified for the Group must be exhibited therein. An exhibit failing to report for the Group will incur a fine of €100 and be disqualified from all wins on the day unless a valid reason is lodged with the Show Secretary before judging commences. A Group Winner failing to report for the Best In Show will incur a fine of €100 and be disqualified from all wins on the day unless a valid reason is lodged with the Show Secretary before judging commences.
STAKES CLASSES

VIDEOS
It is a Kennel Club regulation that permission must be sought from the Show promoting body for the use of video or other recording equipment. Permission must also be obtained from the judge in the ring on the day

OBEDIENCE CLASS DEFINITIONS
Under General Rules
Food or any other article may not be given or carried in the ring, with the exception of Pre-Beginners and Beginners where a non-squeaky/non-audible toy may be carried by the handler.
PRE -BEGINNERS OBEDIENCE CLASS
Confined to dogs or handlers which have not been awarded three first prizes (on or under 10 marks) in any obedience test under Irish Kennel Club Limited Rules or under any Kennel Club recognised by the Irish Kennel Club Limited. Handlers may carry a non-squeaky/audible toy in their hand or pocket and reward the dog by playing with that toy for up to 20 seconds at the end of each exercise with the exception of the stay test. The dog is not allowed to play with the toy during the exercise.
BEGINNERS OBEDIENCE CLASS 8
Confined to dogs or handlers which have not been awarded an Obedience Green Star or awarded four or more first prizes (on or under 10 marks) ) in any obedience test, other than Pre-Beginners Obedience Class, under Irish Kennel Club Limited Rules or under any Kennel Club recognised by the Irish Kennel Club Limited. NOVICE OBEDIENCE CLASS

CLASS B OBEDIENCE
Old Rule:- Down five (5) minutes (30 points). Handler out of sight.
New Rule:- Down four (4) minutes (30 points). Handler out of sight.
Confined to dogs which have not been awarded a Green Star or four or more first prizes (on or under 10 marks under Irish Kennel Club regulations) in any Obedience Classes with the exception of Beginners, Novice or Class A Obedience.
